    Summary

Learn everything travelers and anglers need to know about Utah fishing licenses, including where to get them, pricing, exemptions, and regulations for Southern Utah fly fishing.

Utah Fishing License Information for Travelers and Anglers

If you’re planning a fly fishing adventure with Fly’s n Tines in Southern Utah, it’s important to have a valid Utah fishing license. All anglers aged 12 and older are required to carry a license for freshwater fishing in Utah, including Panguitch Lake, alpine rivers, and reservoirs where our guided trips take place. Licenses are also required for trout, bass, and other species.

Where to Get a Utah Fishing License

You can easily obtain a Utah fishing license online through the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources website or at authorized local vendors such as sporting goods stores and some tackle shops. Buying your license in advance ensures you’re ready for your guided fly fishing Utah experience.

    Resident vs. Non-Resident Prices

Utah residents benefit from discounted rates, while non-residents pay higher fees. A standard freshwater Utah fishing license typically ranges from $17–$31 for residents and $35–$61 for non-residents, depending on the duration and type of license. Be sure to check the current rates when planning your trip.

    Saltwater vs. Freshwater Rules

Southern Utah waters are all freshwater, so you do not need a Utah saltwater license for trips with Fly’s n Tines. Saltwater licenses only apply to coastal areas like the Great Salt Lake in certain regulated zones, which are outside our fly fishing locations.

    Special Exemptions

Youth under 12 fish for free in Utah, and seniors 70+ may qualify for discounted or exempt licenses. Disabled veterans and active military personnel may also have special exemptions. Check the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources website for eligibility and documentation requirements.

    Tips for Visitors

    • Always carry your fishing license while on the water.
    • Review Utah trout fishing regulations and bag limits for Panguitch Lake and other local rivers.
    • If you’re unsure how to get a fishing license in Utah or which type to purchase, our guides at Fly’s n Tines can help answer your questions when you book your trip.

Having a valid Utah fishing license ensures your guided fly fishing Utah experience is safe, legal, and enjoyable, letting you focus on landing that first trophy trout!
